Opera 11 final has been released...

Yea I do have all the bookmarks neatly in folders that I access using the sidebar. But what I have in the bookmarks toolbar are links (with favicons) to my favorite sites. So one click up there and Im sorted.

There was an old version of Opera (Ver. 9) where there was this ultra-thin skin that majorly compressed the bookmarks toolbar. So you still had all your favicons but the toolbar was not the size of an aircraft carrier deck.

:)

Download and install the "netbook Skin v11.1" that should help :)

Choosing images and text to the right will also help to reduce the thickness of the bookmark bar, or just use images only.

I have moved over to it today. Took a little bit to set up: importing bookmarks, ocuk dark, speedial etc. However it is very nippy, very polished and really maximises the screen space available, at least compared to ff3.6

I'm loving Opera 11 so far. Extensions are excellent. Great to finally see them implemented.

As soon as Xmarks for Opera is out then I can finally sync all my bookmarks across browsers and devices!

Loving Opera 11, I used to use Opera then converted to Firefox, well I've just converted back to Opera, it has everything from the start that I had to spend time adding onto Firefox and it just seems more modern.

Some little things that I'll need to tweak hopefully they exist on the add ons.

Integrate Google search with the main address bar.
Remove the status bar at the bottom of the page and add progress to main address bar.

I'm sure you know you can have a search bar next to the address bar? Anyhoo you can also set up search keywords. For example go to Google.co.uk and right click on the data entry box and fill out the letter you want to use. Then in the address bar type "g search term" to get Google to search for the search term.

Remove the status bar at the bottom of the page and add progress to main address bar.
You can remove the status bar. It's the first thing I do. You should also be able to move the progress indicator to the main bar at the top of the screen.

Apologies if you know all this or it isn't what you are looking for. :p

I want to merge the search and address bar rather than have them next to each other.

Thanks, I've done the other stuff, I'm abit rusty but it's all coming back to me now :p

Is it possible to have the progress bar to be like a faint colored bar that goes across the address bar? The one that appears is just a little rectangle box with some numbers in (simple one)

Oh my, tab stacking is AWESOME!!! Now I can get rid of clutter that I get in other browsers! :D

Do you know if it's possible to alter the size of the tabs, they're abit bulky especially on the theme I'm on.

If you mean the tab width then unzip the skin that you are using and look for the [Options] section within the skin.ini and then add...

Pagebar max button width = 120
Pagebar min button width = 40

play around with the above settings as you would like.

Make sure the browser is closed before you do the above.

Sweet! I didnt know you could tweak skins like this. Thanks for the heads up :)

I think when a website doesn't work it's usually an individual curse.

This is very true!!

Thanks.

Turns out it must have just been the old skin interfering, restarted the browser and the tabs went to a different, better size.

Greetings Fellow opera users!

if, like me, you don't like the way that opera-11 occludes the majority of the URL in the address bar, worry no more, for the fix is simple

opera:config#UserPrefs|ShowFullURL <- CLICK ME!

tick that box and the full URL will always be shown. :)

What's up with it? Is it because it's bad due to phishing?

i look at the Address bar to work out where i am and so on on a great number of websites. having it occluded means that that information is usually invisible.

i mean, the Phishing thing could be a concern but opera has site-checking for phishing sites.

Nice one. Weird that Opera thought that'd be good.

maybe Opera are trying to gain market share by dumbing down?

Another way of doing it is just to right click on the "web" icon thing on the lest of the address bar and select "show full web address." That way it is easy to turn it on or off as needed.

What a great idea tab-stacking is!

The only feature that I don't like in the new version is that the panel tabs always show when reading mail, which is a little annoying. Other than that have to say I am really liking the new version so far :)
