Opinion on Greeting cards?

They're generic... until you write something decent inside .

I don't know anyone that writes anything meaningful in cards...

Maybe you do and that makes it a more valuable exercise for you, but I'm willing to bet that the majority of people just write the usual "To....... Happy...... Lots of love from ........." and leave it at that.

Anyone think valentine cards are the same every year? I give and like receiving from gf on special occasions but thats it, think ill be cutting down, mothers day cards this year were dire and mega pricey!

I also write something nice in said gfs card most times

I usually fill my cards with notes, messages, doodles and generally put more thought and effort into these than gifts.

My family have always valued the written word and, despite all the technology available to us, we regularly send each other hand-written letters as it shows the importance of taking time to think about your loved ones; it is this time and effort that is the real gift in our opinion.

They might not admit it but i bet most people who put cards up on display do it so that other people see the cards and think they are popular or loved etc.

No they don't (well I sure as hell don't), your judging this by your own cold and very strange (to me) uncompassionate mindset!!
I have cards from friends and family that are over a decade old, they all go into my important documents box for safe keeping :D
