Hi,

I'm looking to build a new PC as my last one has died after about 6-7 years.
The previous one was basically silent, so I'm looking for a very quiet system, budget around £1,200, mostly just office use, but would want to play the occasional game (DOOM, WoW etc..) hence I've grabbed my 1060 from the old system.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Scythe Ninja 5 43.03 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory
Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive
Storage: Crucial MX500 2 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6 GB SC GAMING Video Card
Case: Fractal Design Define 7 Compact ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2018) 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit

I was thinking about a B450 based system, but then it didnt seem massively cheaper - maybe £60 off a CPU and £60 off the MB? I tried using some websites configurater, but they didnt seem to have the flexibility on parts I was after.

Maybe I should up the PSU to a Seasonic fanless?

Thanks for any input.

Build looks pretty solid. You could go for a cheaper pcie 4.0 M.2 drive like the Gigabyte Aorous or Sabrent Rocket.

PSU upgrade wouldn't hurt. 550w should be enough for that build, but a 750w would give you a bit of headroom if you upgrade your gpu.

You could save a bunch of cash going with a 10400F and a b460 assuming your office work doesn't involve stuff like video editing or other core heavy workloads.

Case, cooler and PSU all optimised for silent operation.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £833.14 (includes shipping: £12.30)

Maybe considered a pre-sound dampened case, forget a window and stick in some silence based fans (Silent Wings spring to mind). The Scythe coolers should do a great job on quietness though, they are beast (had one stuck in the old girls system for the last 8 years or so, and it barely turns the fan on for additional cooling).
