I currently drive a 64 plate M135i with 62000 miles on it. I have had it for about 8 years now and am contemplating a change as I just have that itch to change. I am interested in a TT, and with my car and my spare cash I would have about £18k to spend (mine is showing about £9-10k trade in value).

So my questions are what sort of TT should I be looking at for this money and would anyone else consider this change when the car is likely to be only maybe 4 years newer and will be less powerful.

I thought the first response would say that, and makes complete sense to me. I think its mainly previously I hadn't ever owned a car for more than 3 years, but had also never paid more than about £5k total out before I got the M135i.

It is probably best to stick with it, it does still put a smile on my face, I suppose its just the familiarity and the little nicks here and there from age that make me think about swapping.

What I think I might do instead is find a body shop and get the little knocks and scratches sorted and then an alloy refurb and a full valet to make it seem fresher and newer again.

Thanks for all the replies and discussion, I've slept on it and chatted with my mate (who originally was just like yeah do it) and the main reasons given for not changing are what my mind has gone to. I would need to spend more than I want to (not more than I could) to get something newer enough to make it worth it and with at least a similar performance level. I think the best option is to get the outside refreshed (inside just needs a vacuum and wipe down lol), stone chips on the front, scratch on the wing, couple of trolly dents and two alloys, then get a professional valet and wax job thingy to make it look like it has just come off a showroom. Will make me hopefully love the outside again as much as I enjoy the driving itself.

It is a well (not excellently) looked after car. Serviced yearly regardless of mileage (BMW to 5 years, then local private garages locally).

I suppose another question I could ask is on this car is there anything I should consider having checked/replaced at 60k/10 years

Brake pads and spark plugs were done within the last year or so.
