Has anyone tried the Yamaha SLG100 silent guitar, and if so, what are your opinions? I've seen some videos of it being played, and various blogs all seem to rave about it.

Not seen it in any shops near me, so haven't been able to try it out myself yet.

I'd be interested to know if anyone here has tried it, as I don't trust random bloggers (I'm more likely to trust random OcUK'ers ;)). Cheers.

lol by silent he means it has no body!! just a body frame... search for pics and you'll see what I mean -

well the vids I've seen on youtube make the guitar sound really nice! how much are they?

I think they go for £300-350 for nylon, and £350-400 for steel. Which is a lot for me to put into an acoustic... gotta get it past the financial controller.

not too bad though for what seems to be a solid silent acoustic... what do you want to use it for? acousitc or classical stuff?

And why are you after a silent as opposed to a regular acoustic??

just for playing normal acoustic stuff... not classical.

I guess I mostly want one because of being able to play it at night without annoying the rest of my family. Also, though, I've only just got round to buying an acoustic after playing a strat on and off for a fair few years, and I find the thickness of the acoustic to be uncomfortable... I love the size and contour of my strat, it just fits perfectly.

Maybe I'll get used to playing the acoustic, but at the moment I find I don't pick it up cause it's too uncomfortable for my short arms.

A pity they cost that much since Yamaha also makes the LJ6 and LS6 acoustics for less than that and they are simply put, gorgeous guitars.
