Hi all,

Just want to pick someones brains about hdmi stuff, I hope general hardware is the right place.

So, I'm thinking of purchasing a 10m optical hdmi cable for my pc to tv but It needs to be as flexible as a standard 1.5m copper cable. I already have 5m copper cable which does the job but cuts across the room, it's super thick and rigid as hell.

I'm hoping a 10m optical is thinner and more flexible. Is this the case?

Cheers

Hiya mate,

I want to do something similar in the next week or so but I was wary about bending optical cables as I know how that can go. So I looked around and saw a product that has a transmitter and receiver but is not wireless. It takes the HDMI and converts it into a signal that will run down an Ethernet cable, which will be less prone to getting damaged by bending.

If you're still stuck in a week, tag me here and I can let you know if I got it and how it went.

I have a 10m fibre-optic HDMI 1.4 cable (and three DisplayPort 1.4 cables) from FIBBR which works very well; you can get 10m 48 Gbps HDMI 2.1 cables these days for £32. You do have to be slightly careful as the bending radius isn't as tight; these cables are made of glass, not copper.

Do be aware that the cables are directional.

I've got a 20 meter kennable optical hdmi cable.

For some reason it won't work with our newish dell latitude. But using a splitter solves the problem. We how use it with a dock which is fine.

It's fine with 3 older Lenovo PCs and a Blu-ray player.

I have the 20M version of this one and works great, the one I usually recommend to people as it works with no issues and sensibly priced.
