Can prime this at 2.9ghz day and night on air.3ghz it fails after 3 hours or so but can play CSS/BF2 with it.

3.1ghz it fails after about 20 mins but i put that down to my crappy psu [thermaltake 480w]

I have the oppurtunity to purchase a Vapo unit and wondered if that would help with the OC or wether the psu [if it is the cause] would be a weak link.

I suppose there's only 1 way to find out, buy both!

Seriously though I hear a lot of opterons have the coldbug so freezing will get you nowhere.

Tried bumping the volts up?

Thats a wicked OC for air cooling, I doubt a vapo would get you too much further, Kesnel on this forum has a 146 running over 3.4 but I think he's in league with the devil so unless you want to sell your soul you might be out of luck ;)

:D

I've had a few Opterons under the Mach. The least coldbugged was the CABYE 0543FPMW, so the BY mem controller looks good. I could get 355htt (*10) a around -21c or so. It's benchable at 3.4Ghz at 1.68v.

CABNE 0530APMW has a bug at -18c. The max htt below that is 320, but I managed to find a work around and that does 3.4Ghz at 1.6v/1.63v.

Neither of these chips will go much above 3.4Ghz, but I'm doing a bit more testing on the CABNE as we speak.

Then there was the 144 CAB2E 0540VPMW, that bugged at around -5c, wouldn't go over 230htt.

I know this is slightly off topic but I'm sure it'll help in the end.. are you at 3.4 for an everyday speed?

I can justabout get a cpu-z validation out of my 3800 at 3.2-3.3ish depending on the day :D but for everyday I'm sat at 3ghz.

Had a chat with Kesnel on MSN[cheers m8] and decided to stick with air for now and ordered the Scythe ninja :D

Benches fine at 3.4Ghz on 1.63v, which is what I do my 3dmark runs with.
