orange and PACT code

What people dont seem to realise is you dont sign a contract for 24 months. You sign a contract, which has a 24 month MINIMUM TERM.

.

i admit i did not know this. contracts to me are for the specified term, the 'minimum' thing did pass me by (can't even remember if it is stated , i assume it must have been) but orange have not been great tbh and the reception has been sporadic. i am thinking of going with t-mobile, can't be any worse .... can they?

Did you realise you can get t-mobile reception on a orange contract, and vise versa now?

Lulwut. Do you have a real world example to back this up?

Yes When the X10 was released, and i wanted one.

24month contract was £35pcm for 24months.
Total cost was £840ish, prob was a little quidco(maybe £50)
Similar mins, texts but a 500Mb FUP limit on data.

X10 from ebay (BNIB sealed) £280
GiffGaff PAYG package £240
Total cost in same period is £520.
No data limit, no text limit, but less mins.

There are absolutely loads of 'real world examples' on the forums of how to get a good PCM deal, or scrap PCM completely and buy PAYG.

I have had contract phones since the 90's and kick myself for the money I blindly threw away in the last 10years on contracts as it just seemed easier then PAYG.

Contract terms stipulate that the contract is a minimum term, not a fixed term, and that the contract requires 30 days notice to cancel once the minimum term expires.

So in other words, yes, they can do that.

Conclusion: it might work for poo phones. The x10 is not 'top end' at all. It's cheap because no-one wants it.

it's specified as 1200 cross contract minutes with t-mobile but there is an orange option but it is £5 p/m more

No, he means that you can use t-mob signal on your orange phone, so that you can connect to either network for signal.

I think you need to start reading things before committing / dismissing them ;)

When it was released it was top end, and as for no one wanting it lol.
I guess your just a troll tbh

He's not a troll, the X10 was just the worst of the high end Android handsets. At release (which is when you bought it, is it not?) it had loads of problems that made it fairly poor.

Due to this the prices of it plummeted, the HTC Desire completely and utterly destroyed it with regard to sales.

It may have dropped after, but the point was it was still high end Andriod hardware wise, i did choose it over the Desire, but it would have been the same for that.

When i show a clear example of it working, the only answer for it was
Conclusion: it might work for poo phones.

A top end smartphone thats popular isn't going to be available for £200-300, I think that was the point. You are right in some circumstances though of course.

On a positive spin - I requested my Orange pac code a couple of weeks ago, recieved it in the post the next day and then the transfer completed to my new network the next working day- suitably impressed :)

High end does not equal top end, which is what you originally said. The X10 is not top end. And it would not have been the same for the Desire at time of release. Contracts and PAYG tactics for the Desire at release were coming out at very similar levels of expense, especially considering that networks frequently won't even offer top end phones as PAYG to start with.

why is the orange option £5 p/m more than t-mobile? surely t-mobile can't be any worse than orange?

You still aren't understanding. This is not about calls to phones on each others networks.

A vodafone phone connects to vodafone network for coverage
An o2 phone connects to o2 network for coverage
An orange phone can connect to orange or t-mob for coverage (and vice versa).

Make sense?

I was stuck with Orange for 3 years. The last contract was 24months but missold to me from Phones4U. I wanted to leave and take my personal number with me but they made me buy out of the contract in order to get my PAC. It cost me over £500 to buy out and I did. They offfered me every deal going including a free plasma, a fit lookin women, and another handset that would suffer the same no signal problem that the last one did.

I would rather shoot my testicles with a nailgun than ever go back to orangatang. Useless, non-providers of no signal, no customer service, and no getting out of contract merchants. They make Hitler look Mary Poppins on coke.
