The Register is carrying the following story:
New tariffs from UK mobile operator Orange add unlimited access to specific services of the cellco's animal-themed mobile packages.

Acknowledging competition from T-Mobile's Flext package, Orange is set to introduce a top price for each package (that's dolphin, canary, raccoon and panther) with unlimited texts, calls and internet browsing depending on the creature of choice.

Dolphins will get to text as much as they like for 35 quid, canaries get evening and weekend calls thrown in for £40, raccoons will be able to call landlines as much as they like for £35, while panthers get both internet browsing and text messaging bundled for £75 a month. You'll need to sign up to an 18 month contract to take advantage of these prices.
£75/month :eek: I don't think they'll take much business from web'n'walk? There are no signs of these changes on the Orange website as yet..

thats pretty cool, but I get 500 mins and 500 texts from orange anyway so doesnt bother me! £25 a month with free insurance. All you got to do is tell them you want to leave them and they will give you that!

Thank god for orange discount, i don't care if i'm going to uni. I'm going to take a contract from them just for that! My Girlfriend i'm sure will find a good use for it and i'll just take the phone!

Ok, changes are now live, so full details are available on the Orange website.

The crux of the changes are more minutes, especially on 18 month contracts, as well as the unlimited benefits on certain tarriffs.

The unlimited tarriffs are:

Dolphin 35

500 mins (550 if bought online), unlimited texts. £35/month

Racoon 35

500 mins (550 online), 200 texts, unlimited calls to landlines £35/month

Canary 40

600 minutes (660 online), 400 texts, unlimited off peak minutes to Orange £40/month

Panther 75

1500 minutes (1600 online), unlimited texts, unlimited offpeak internet use £75/month

Magic numbers are still running, as is the free broadband, all the tarriffs have had their number of minutes increased quite dramatically as well.

I dont think there that great, glad i upgraded yesterday.

looks like insurance has gone up to £6 aswell.

Yesterday I got 300 minutes + 100 text for £30/month
with 1000free txt + 200minutes extra
plus free bonus of 150 xnet mins
£5 insurance
so thats 650minutes + 1100 text for £30/month

now the deal is 550mins + unlimited text for £35/month plus £6 insurance = £41/month that makes it £6 more and 100 minutes less, i know the text is unlimited but come on im not going to use a thousand text anyway.

I better ring up and make sure i got yesterdays deal actually as i upgraded.

Just changed my tariff over the phone to Dolphin 35 with 550 mins and unlimited txts and got a free upgrade to N80

On selected tariffs Orange were giving you an extra 200 cross network minutes and 1000 extra texts free plus a benefit for life (150 3G minutes etc.) but they ended yesterday and the unlimited ones started today.

Not really simple is it though? Free texts (but on selected tarrifs), free calls (but off peak only), unlimited calls any time (but to only 1 number). Unlimted data, but on a selected tarrifs. Lets not forget the free broad band too.

Great deals, sure, but confusing as well. It was all supposed to be about simplifying things making it easier to understand, and the new Animal deals are anything but.

Flext, once you get round the basic idea, is easy to follow. Its not bundle, plus bundle, plus addon a fest which the Orange ones seem to be like.

I got quite excited when I saw the title, but £75/month in order to get the 'unlimited' internet access......and even then it's only off peak? Naff.

The T-Mobile web 'n' walk idea of a £7.50 bolt-on to any tariff for unlimited net access is a far better solution.

Ah, thats crap !

well done orange, some good plans to compete against flext, however it really doesnt really compete against flext +WnW as already mentioned (tho ive not checked the small print about fair use, so i could be wrong :p)

I got my new orange contract about six weeks ago on canary 40 which is a bit of a rip off tbh. is it possible for me to switch to the new dolphin tarriff?

Really interested in these new offers, i.e. free broadband + magic numbers, but i am finding it impossible to locate a m600, even online its out of stock, the muppets at the end of the orange call centers dont know anything about new stock :(

Anyone here work at orange or does anyone know where i could get a m600 or the new m3100 launch date?

Also does the m600 have wifi?

No it does not, you are talking about the Sony Ericsson M600i right??...if so then no it doesnt have built in WIFI, only the P990i will have it.

Oh btw orange have totally butchered the m600i with their stupid operator branding as well. From what i have been reading over at my-symbian forums, a lot of people are quite upset about the butchering of the phone. a lot of functions have been disabled and you cant actually flash the phone back to the generic firmware as SE wont touch it.
