Hi all,

Thinking of getting a new contract for uni. Im looking at the Student plans from orange, probably the Student 25.

Its £25 a month (12 months), 100 mins and 1000 texts, and includes a free samsung D900.

However I cant find anywhere on the site any information about how the 100 free mins can be used, are they to any network at any time of day?

If anyone can shed some light on this that would be helpful.

Cheers

Are you honestly likely to use 1000 texts a month? You could surely get a better mix of mins/txts for 25 quid a month. It seems like a bit of a rip off tarriff to me.

True, its a big step up in value, not sure if I can afford that extra £10 a month though.

£25 really is my limit I think.

Ok then, I can see where you guys are coming from, maybe this plan isnt great value for me.

The 1000 texts thing is a bit silly. Im likley to use 3 - 400 max I think.

The 550 minutes are for calls to mobiles; it comes with unlimited calls to landlines...plus a magic number and 200 texts.

That is pretty good value then. I just need to work out if I can stretch that far or not. Is there anything similar for £30? I guess that looses the umlimited landline calls, probably other things too.

That's a pretty poor deal IMO. I had 500mins/200 texts for £25 on Orange on a 12 month contract last year. Don't just go for it thinking 'it's a student offer, it must be good'...

Ive just been looking around the usual network websites, and I cant seem to find a better deal, every so often something will jump up that appears to be better value for £25 a month, but then it turns out to be an 18month contract.

Im only after a 12.

Do you get a magic number on the 12month version of this plan or is it just the 18 month plans that have these numbers?

Can anyone answer the above question with regards to orange student £25 please?

Just consider the fact that 1000 texts is about 33 texts a day, I don't know many people who will constantly send 30 texts every single day.

I've always found the Orange student deals to be excessively bad value, the only upside being the 12 month part.

Well this is just the thing.

I need a 12 month contract, not an 18 month contract, and I cant spent anymore than £25 a month.

I really cant find anything out there that is better value and still meets the above criteria.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

The 1000 txts are an 'extra' that orange provide.
Its pretty much a normal contract, show your student card, they give you +1000 txts, so getting a better mix isnt an option. ;)
Read people read! :p
