Just a quick warning if anyone needs to phone orange tech support.
Im luckily not with orange but went over to a friends house yesterday to setup her computer and broadband.
Installed all ok, but was getting very slow speeds about 256k.
So decided to speak to tech support.
The first phone call I got through to a india call centre and im not being funny but I couldnt understand a word the person was trying to say to me. The queens english was not being spoken!. Asked to speak to someone who could speak better english at which they cut the line!.
2nd phone call, got through again to india, again couldnt understand them so I hungup.
3rd phone call, india again, but this time the person could speak broken english although he was like a robot and was just reading from a screen. Even though id already done I dont know how many speed tests all he said was youve got to do 3 speed tests over the next 10hrs and hung up!.
4th phone call I get through to a UK call centre
. Man was very helpful and said that the line was ADSLMax, my friend was 4km from the exchange and so the line quality wasnt very good, but give it a few days for max to settle down and establish its connection rate.
I said 'Thanks for the help, and explained the india situation', his reply was '**** those call centres in india, im working in the last Orange UK centre and as from friday we have all been made redundant, all tech calls will be put through to india from friday onwards, theres no UK tech guys left'.
At 50p per min, I hope not many of you need to use it in the future.
I suppose you get what you pay for really.. £5 per month broadband!.
Fully star your swearing.
