Hi my names Simon and ive never organised a party.
Im leaving my job soon in about 1 to 2 months, and i thought id have a farewell doo (:p is that spelt right) down a pub in the skittle alley. The only thing is i aint got a clue where to start, so if someone could make a list for me on things i should do/need that would be great.

Its still really early stages yet, so im not sure how many ppl would come at a guess 40-70 people.

1) Book bowling alley with pub
2) invite people

Optional extras
3) arrange some sort of finger food
4) consider fancy dress for extra giggles.

 by thread. how can you not know how to organise a party at a pub.

Surely it can't be that difficult?

Ring up the alley and see if you can get a booking for that many people for starters, that'd be my biggest worry.

Other than that all you need to do is set and time and place and let people know, unless I've missed something really obvious here?

depends what you want, what the pub allows and more importantly how much you have to spend.

But bowling with 40-70 people is way to much. I would say about 10-15 max. But I suppose others can just chat, or listen to the dj.

ignoring the DJ how much would you think it would all cost.

any where from £0 to 10's of thousands. With a decent number of people buying drinks you might find a pub which will give you the alley room for nothing. In which case you won't have to pay anything. Unless you get optional extras like food, dj etc

thousands:p
It should only cost a from what my workmate was saying about £300.

That'd completely depend on the price per lane and the number of people going...

Why would you be paying for them all anyway? I'm sure nobody would mind paying for a game or two.

No we wont be playing skittles, the party will be in the skittle alley.
Then yes I would get a DJ any where from around £50(cheap one) upwards a night. If it's going to be a long night or you're starting early. food is a good idea, unless there's somewhere nearby people can go.

Go and talk to them or phone them up. Speak to the manager and tell them you want to organise a party for x many people on a particular date and see where it goes from there. If you're going to fill there pub more than they usually do they'll be happy to help and you may be able to get a few discounts/special offers going.

if you live in close to a uni then try find some students who will dj. Promises of 50 notes and a crate of beer will get you one. They'd bring there own gear usually aswell,

With that many people going, try setting up a competition for the bowling so that it's structured and everyone gets a game. Otherwise people may get bored. Prizes would be a good idea aswell
