Organising compilation albums

Hi dooooods,

I have a lot of compilation albums with multiple CDs contained in them with multiple tracks (by various artists).....

How do I:-

a. organise on my HD (i.e. do I just leave them all in one directory or create multiple directories for each CD)?

b. Organise the ID Tags so that they all belong to same album but different CDs with different track list (e.g 1 to 15 cd1 1 to 19 cd2)

I put all songs in 1 directory like:-

0101 song artist cd1 track1
0102 song artist cd1 track2
.....
.....
0115 song artist cd1 track15
0201 song artist cd2 track1
....
...
0218 song artist cd2 track 18

which is fine but in Itunes all sones have been labelled 1 to 33 and not into the different cds....... which is kinda confusing

Any answers?

If you make the album name [cd 1] [cd2] etc then sort your iTunes library buy Album Artist it should sort it out for you. That's what I do.

As for organising it on your HDD that's personal preference really but I have a separate folder for each Artist then sub folders for Albums and then further sub folders if there are multiple disks.

In the 'get info' box set the disc number as 1 of 2, 2 of 2 etc for multi cds.

Does that put them into seperate cds when playing on ipod?
