Our cat has adopted a second home - anything we can do?

It's because they feed your cat, they need to stop doing it otherwise you can say goodbye to your cat.

Go back and tell them not to feed you cat again and again until they stop feeding your cat.

I'd go and have a stern word tbh. You tried being polite, didn't work. Don't yell, just tell them, don't feed the cat, and don't let the cat in, simples.

The neighbours have a cat and most probably a cat flap so they will probably politely tell him to go for a long walk. ;)

The cat will be more attracted to going to the other home, if it doesnt come home for days then your going to get worried when infact its next door living the highlife, its a worry for the owner.

and the fact that it is your cat and you would like to see it once in a while and play with it.

Write a note and attach it to the collar, stating it's infected with scabies and needs treatment at the same time each day so shouldn't be given a second home or touched in any way. Laxatives would work. Tell them not to feed it as it has special dietry requirements etc.

Tell them you've been advised by your vet that your cat needs to lose weight/eat a special diet/whatever and so you'd be very pleased if they'd not give it any more food.

Mock up an invoice from the Vet saying that you need to pay bills for treatment of over eating and that your cat has had to have a gastric band fitted.

Make it a nice amount and wait to see if they keep letting the cat in and feeding it.

tell the neighbours the cat has very specific dietary requirements recently diagnosed by the vet

if they are not adhered to, the cat may DIE!

You can't complain that your cat ends up in another persons house when you allow it to roam wherever it wants, cats go into other peoples houses regardless of encouragement. The only workable solution is to be responsible and confine your animals to your property.

I thought it wouldn't have to come down to this, but this is serious business.

Nuke from orbit.

EDIT: But in all seriousness, So many cat owners get annoyed with other people feeding their cats etc. I mean i could understand if they kept kicking your cat, but they are just being nice people. But I guess in Modern Britian, being nice and caring for other peoples animals is forbidden.

The irony is that they are the ones in the wrong for allowing their animals to enter other peoples property in the first place. Installing an electric fence is great at keeping cats and other vermin out of your garden, as well as keeping your own pets in. :)
