Is it ok to eat out of date food??

Just wondering because I bought myself an M&S curry last week but didn't get round to eating it. I was looking forward to eating it for lunch today but the best before date is 9th August. Now I know the food doesn't automatically go off once the date has been passed and it's only 2 days out, so would it be ok to eat it?? The main thing is that it has chicken in it which makes me a bit more careful.

So, what do you think?

Curry was made to contain bad meat, and now its out of date you don't want to eat it?

Make sure microwave nukes it, will be fine IMHO.
i eat loads of stuff thats out of date as it is cheaper to buy when its nearly out of date in the shops

lol I bet it's nutritional value was zero though

tins are fine for *much* longer - you can eat stuff out of cans thats fifty years old ;)

It's only the best before date anyway. They have to be conservative with these for obvious reasons. I doubt very much 2 days is going to hurt. I'd scoff it!

The date that is printed on (9th in your case) is usually the end of the day as in 12am. So really the product is only 36 hrs out of date, personally would try it, bet it isn't that bad, I would probably cook it for an extra minute or so just to be safe :)

Prepackaged, processed food, designed to survive way beyond its shelf-life, were it made properly, through a mixture of chemical preservatives, irradiation and voodoo.

I vote for throw it out.

Its curry. Throw it out anyway and get something nice.

I'm dissapointed Gilly, you haven't said the word bumsick once in this curry thread!

I vote for eat it, it'll be fine!

For the price of the meal, why risk it?

I can't see you heaving your guts out later, but thinking 'well at least I got my moneys worth!" :)
