i7 920 + GA-EX58-UDR3 + Corsair H50-1 + GEIL pc3-10660 (DDR3-1333)
Hi guys
I'm trying to OC the above combination, hopefully to 4+Ghz but I just cant seem to get it to run much above 3Ghz.
I managed to OC the same chip to 4Ghz on a different board, an MSI X58M with no trouble, (well the north bridge got hot enough to cook on!) until I blew it by plugging in the wrong power lead (long story).
I've tried using the EasyTune utility and that just seems to crash the system every time and I've tried changing the settings in the bios directly.
So two questions:
The fan on the radiator is just a stock 120mm case fan, is this seriously inefficient and should I replace it with something more muscular?!
The NorthBridge has its own integrated heat sink which is attached to another heatsink next to the back panel. Is it safe, a good idea to replace these with a couple of dedicated passive NorthBridge coolers (Zaward TwinTowers?)
Thanks in advance
Richard
