Previously being a finance monkey, the galling bit was the need to manually print, sign and snail-mail the contract agreement back. Unsure what the score is now, but you can get digital signatures these days which should suffice for the purpose of contracts you would imagine no?

Pretty much everything is just digital signatures these days, in as far as it say stick your name here and tick this box to agree to everything.

Be careful as this severely affects your credit rating.

For example, choosing "buy now pay back in 6 months" means you can pay the full amount within 6 months with no interest. But the loan sits unpaid for 5 months and this adversely affects your rating until Hitachi advise it has been paid

Use with caution

Is that true? Dam, that's sneaky if true :o:eek:

Hmmm, the agreement states the start of the repayments so that is well out of order if true.

I got a credit card

I applied for the other day so it can't have affected me too badly.

Of course the loan will show as unpaid, since it is unpaid. It's a current loan against your name. It's no different than other loans. Except the name of the loan company, which (I suppose) could look like the sort of loan someone with financial problems might use. Not sure if that would have an effect, in reality.

Credit and loans used properly are not a bad thing, you just need to manage things in the correct way. It only becomes debt and bad news when you can't pay it back. There's nothing wrong with using finance to spread the costs of life and if it's 0% then that is obviously the best way to go, better in your pocket than in theirs I say.

I have used the 12 month finance package with Hitachi, no dramas as it was pay'd off on time. And it does give you some breathing space to sort out other normal hum drum expenses.

Do you have any reputable source for this? I'm not convinced..
