Diddums. You've accentuated his point though.

No, you misunderstand: when someone accuses you of being 'snobish' and 'pretentious', but they cannot even spell, that's normally a sign that the defect lies with them and not you. Do you understand this? If a pleb ingrate called a Bergman production "pretentious", is this because the viewer is deficient or because the production is flawed?

I would suggest if you cannot spell correctly and you find me 'pretentious', it may have as much to do with you as me. Similarly, if you find Magnolia's pointless threads full of secondary-school English writing exercises "funny", but then don't find a comedy passage from Joyce "funny", the weakness is probably in your level of reading.

I can spell perfectly well, thanks. I also don't find the need to quantize creativity. Unless, of course, it's a drum beat, in which case quantizing is useful.

I'm not trying to say anything about 'standards'. I just don't understand how one member has license to make "so randum xD" threads 3 times a week, when they are complete nonsense. Quotes from Bret Easton Ellis? Please. As I said... if every member contributed in the same way, what would the forum be like?

Judging from the immediate annoyance, not a great place.

Therefore I think my point is illustrated quite well enough.

The point is that not all members contribute in the same way, and [FnG]Magnolia can contribute in a style of his choosing and as a rule his posts are not to be taken seriously at all and often lead to interesting and diverse dialogue from a wide range of members who would normally not express themselves such. I do not express myself in fiction as a rule, for an example.

Your point seems to be that he should not be permitted to post his threads, when I would argue that his threads are exactly what should be posted as it raises above the normal rants on the latest Daily Mail article style of threads that abound in GD.

To paraphrase Joyce himself, Irresponsibility is part of the pleasure of all art; it is the part the schools cannot recognize.

and [FnG] Magnolia's irresponsible use of Ellis or whoever is all part of the pleasure of his art, whether you enjoy it or not, the proof is in the extremity of reaction, not in nodding agreement.

Don't let your contribution to GD descend into cacoethes carpendi, you have far more potential than that. :)

Oh God, not another one. I had Magnolia's face flying around the room last night, with his story read out loud on repeat. Please... please, make it stop.

Quantizing a drumbeat may be useful in the paint-by-numbers Fruityloops brostep you listen to.

Quantizing creativity is a vital function in art.

Right. Just to get this clear. I hate fruityloops. They don't taste good.

It's all about Reason, brosef. And I don't personally use quantization.

And by using the term Brostep, you further push yourself into the realm of snobbery. I would love to hear the amazing productions that you yourself have produced :)

I read all of that, even understood most of the 'words', but barely a single sentence.

Apparently its a comedy?
