I decided I would give my cpu a go from 3.6 to 3.8, At the moment the cpu is at 3.78 and mem is overclocked by 20mhz. Also Ive highered the mem volt from 1.9v to 1.925v. Should my memory be safe, heres some screen shots.......

Bummer it failed again,, Im gonna put it back to 3.6 I think,, cos Ive upped been slowly upping the cpu voltage, and now Ive upped it by 5 notches.

edit: upped the voltage up 1 more, now cpuz if reporting 1.280v-1.29v... That still ok for wolfdales??

burntest still failed, so now Ive put the memory back on 1.9v from 1.925v, to see if its the memory at fault. Also turned the cpu volts down 3 notches,, so if its the cpu, burntest should now fail in a few mins.

Might want to try it with only 2 sticks of RAM installed. 4 sticks put a lot of extra load on the memory controller, it may be the limiting factor in your overclock.

Yeah I think it might be that reason to after lowering the mem volts even more and it didnt mak a slightest bit of diff. Anyway its not like I need anymore speed atm. I can run burntest 24/7 at 3.6, without it failing, so I'll leave it at that I think.

If you havn't tried allready i would suggest adding abit more volts to the NB as that is what will need it more, especially when using all the memory slots.

About ur volts on cpu and asking is that safe, yup your well within the safe limits, its recommned to stay under 1.4 when using air, 1.4 - 1.5 when using water, any higher for long periods really needs extreme cooling.

As ur on air try and stay under 1.4 for 24/7 running. Also i would'nt worry to much that the ram is overclocked they should go a lot higher then that, my excel ram (mushkin made) will run at 1000mhz all be it with slack timmings. Id be seriously surprised if your ram would'nt run at 900+mhz.

But as said before either use 2 sticks of ram, or try adding abit more north bridge volts.

Is "MCH" the north bridge volts in the bios??

1.29 north bridge or vcore? *Edit* nvm pic showing now lol

And north bridge volts are usually only really required to go a few notches above stock really for stablity.

Btw if u have intel speedstep turned on, you may be able to get that vcore down abit more too, if u turn it off, if u check the link in my sig, and look at what vcore im using for 3.6ghz lol.

The northbridge. Ive only increased it by 1 notch from 1.25v to 1.27 or 1.28v cant remember, but everest is reporting slighly higher as you can see from the screenshot.

Yeh i spoted it after asking, pic did'nt load first time for me lol.

Think my Vtt is 1.3v, my north bridge is 1.4 (still well within what mobo suggests) and my south bridge is 1.15, i have them all set to that as then i can easily just boost my fsb and vcore for quick benching runs without messing with other volts..

Just failed again, so ive upped it another notch to 1.33v, before it was 1.29,, my memory is rubbish,,hehe....Everest its saying the NB is 1.33 - 1.34v now

Thats still low NB volts, mines at 1.4 24/7, as long as the chip has a heatsink on it and ur case has good cooling, you will be fine.

If u look your motherboard temp is 29c, mine sits at around 30-35c depending on ambients...

Your still safe to go a lot higher, iv even put mine to 1.6v for really high end clocks on the nb and only ever had 35-38c for the mobo.

Keep trying, or just leave it at the stable clock it is with 8gb
