Overclocking Intel i5 3570k with Stock Cooler

There are a few people on here that use the stock cooler on a 3570K, but i'm not one of them. As for the amount of noise that it produces being intolerably loud it is kind of a subjective thing that varies from person to person.

I would advise that you but an better heatsink for a round £25 -£35 as it will give much better performance and depending on your case it will save you having to strip everything down later to install one.

With the stock cooler I just upped the multiplier to 40 and let it get on with it. The temperatures where fine and it was completely stable. It ran like that for a couple of months while I was deciding which aftermarket cooler to buy.
