I have both a DS4 and P5B Delux Wifi... one of them needs selling, but which one?

I want to get my E6300 up to 430Mhz FSB eventually - is there any problems with that on either of the two boards?

I like the 2x Lan and the Wireless on the P5B, but at the end of the day if only one of them can do 430FSB properly then I'll go for that one :) I know some of mobos stuggle in certain ranges of FSB, but don't know which ones and what ranges :)

EDIT: Also, I'm suffering from distorted sound on the P5B - I haven't updated the drivers yet, but has anyone else had that problem? I have to keep the master volume down on 75% :( It's definately not the speakers, they worked fine on the DS4

Okay, cool. So there's no fix for the sound on the P5B?

I do have a Soundblaster Audigy 2 sound card, but I'd rather use on board and have more space in my case (and less components in my PC).

Dunno... Which would you sell? Bearing in mind I do have an Audigy 2 for the P5B to get rid of its naff sound :p

I don't need the features of the P5B, but they are cool :P

IMO the DS4 looks cooler - I get the feeling that if I sell the DS4, I'm gonna miss it ... lol.

I think the only thing the Asus has over the DS4 is the extra network socket and the wireless network?

Other than that, they're pretty much the same, but the DS4 has better cooling (it looks better, anyway). But I'd probably never benefit from the extra cooling.

it distorts at over 80% volume :(
what speakers you using? Can't you turn the PC volume down and turn up the actual speaker volume?

80% volume!!! if I had mine that loud the neighbours would be at me front door!

sorry to butt in, Im using onboard sound, with Logitech 5.1 Speakers, I have no sound issues.

One more thing the P5B Deluxe has over the Gigabyte's is a Saving o/c Profiler which is damn handy, 2 can be saved on the cmos, and have unlimited bios saves on a usb pen drive. Very Handy. :D

Hi
I had a ds4 when they first came out and had to rma two of them .
This episode put me off gigabyte boards for life.
In the end i got shot of it and got a p5b deluxe wifi ap.
Yes it costs more but you get a lot of stuff in the box unlike the ds4 which only give you a couple of cables.
And i don't like the layout on the ds4 either. like having to remove the graphics card if you want to take out the memory :(
Hope this helps

 Mine's not laid out like that..?

When I say 80% volume, I mean the motherboard is outputting @ 80% to the speakers which are at, say, 25%...

The motherboard should be able to output at 100% with no distortion!

I am running with 80% on the mobo but a bit more on the speakers, which works, but I don't want it to be OK working like that, I want it to work properly... I'm the kind of person who expects things to work properly, not just 'mostly work' :p So yeah, having the mobo's sound turned down and speakers turned up works, but it's a bodge job - I shouldn't have to do it like that! :(

Nonetheless, I think it's the DS4 that's gonna get sold!

Its working fine here? I just turned the software volume up (100%) with the AMP on 50% and its great!

What drivers are you using?

The only thing thats missing is an EQ for the sound drivers? where is it hidden? I've had to use the EQ built into Winamp/Windows Media player to get the sound just how I like it (plenty of 'tops').

There's a blue tray icon if I remember rightly (at another house at the mo!), I think it's a blue square with a play triangle in it... but that could've been on my DS4 :p

But yeah, double click it and you an equaliser and a master volume "virtual knob" :D
