Hi, my pc is 5 years old now and thinking of an upgrade of the mb and the cpu.

Spec now is P8Z68-V PRO with a 2500k

Is the Asus Z97-K Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard or the Asus Z97 Pro Wifi-AC Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard a good choice with Intel Core i5-4690K 3.50GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor ?

Suggestions welcome.

It's not worth it. Performance gains since Sandybridge have been minimal and a overclocked 2500k is still a fantastic cpu. Is your's overclocked? If not then most will hit 4.5Ghz with ease and a lot go even further than that. PCI-e 3 will gain you no more than 2-5% performance, if that, so it's not worth upgrading for that either. There's also the fact that Skylake with it's new socket and DDR4 will be along in a couple of months making 1150 a dead socket.

I'd wait personally but each to their own!

The only reason to change for me would be if it wasn't overclocking anymore. My i5 2500k was at 4.6ghz in a p8z68-v bundle from here and doesn't seem to be stable anymore after 4 years, it's clocked at 4.3 currently and rock solid again, I could push it up probably as this is the first thing I took it down to but it's still like muck off the proverbial shovel! I've had big performance increases from changing Graphics Cards.

I'm running the same package as you however I have my 2500k overclocked to 4.8ghz.

no point upgrading as its still a powerful setup...

I wouldn't ever touch an upgrading to my CPU Motherboard if they are not bottlenecking my GPU.

Right now GPU still maxes out at 100% usage

Really wouldn't bother, not much point upgrading since sandy. I really regret "upgrading" from my 2500k to a 4770k.. got lower clocks and lower performance overall due to the toothpaste TIM they used.
