So...I'm thinking of getting this because I just couldn't get on with the lack of keypad on the XDA Orbit. I've done searches and read reviews, but was just hoping for a few more opinions - mainly to do with the size! How do people find it? Looks big...the last "big" phone I had was the Nokia 6600 about 3 years ago, so will be a little strange at first I'm thinking.

The P990i looks good [now the firmware upgrades have fixed crashing issues, right?], however is there any other smartphones I should consider as well? The Nokia N80 maybe?

Thanks in advance..

Really depends on wether you need all the features, I had one for about a week or so from Orange and didnt get on with it so exchanged it for a W950i, the phone is a lot better once you remove the keypad. But for me it was a bit bulky and quite slow, but I didnt really need or used the features.

I use a P910i and its a great piece of kit, does everything I need plus a whole lot more

I use a P910i, and am waiting for my 990 to be delivered this week :)

Great phones, if you need/use the features, can be a bit of a pain if all you want to do is send texts and make calls though.

I use a very large percentage of the features on my p990i (particularly the business card scanner - absolute genius piece of work that), and I love it. There's been a couple of times where it stops responding to the point that I have to hold in the power button for over 5 seconds before it switches off, and other times the messaging app can crash & close if I type & delete stuff too quickly; sounds silly but it's happened 2 or 3 times now!

It's a bit 'fat' imho, the width is perfect but I don't know why they had to make it so deep. I say go for it.

But for the amount of stuff it does, and the amount of usage I give it, it holds up incredibly well. There's a new firmware for it as of early January, but it's only available to unbranded models - will be a few weeks yet before it gets released to O2 users. But it fixes yet more issues and improves memory management that bit more, so it's improving. I say buy it. It does so much more than the N73 or N80 and is faster than both of them, has a bigger screen, WiFi (unlike the N73), touchscreen, qwerty keypad. Packed to the brim with features and does them all very well :)
