Palit GTX 670 getting hot

if its any help my reference MSI 670 goes up to 80-81c under full load after a while (default fan speed setting) So mid 80's for 2 reference 670's seems about right

I initially went for a reference 670 - due to their ability to exhaust heat out the case. However, they have horrible sounding fans and they still get up to 80c.

So I DSR'd it and got a windforce, expecting my CPU and system temps to rise a lot. To be honest there's barely any difference between the Windforce and the reference cooler in terms of in case temp (and i have very poor case cooling).

The 6950 I had before also dumped heat in the case, but the Windforce compared to that is far cooler and generates much less in case heat. Must just be the efficiency of these cards.

Here is a picture of my case, as you can see the cards are fairly close together. I took the advice on here and bought a spot cooler which has made a difference but what seems to have made an additional difference is that I have flipped the fan on the front side of the case so it drawing air away from the cards rather than blowing on them. This might also mean I am not blasting air too much on the cards and therefore affecting the air flow from the spot cooler.

In any event, temps on Crysis 2 just now were between 75-77C on the top card which is an improvement as it was hitting 85C at certain points.

Thanks to all for your tips and guidance, much appreciated. :)

Well I thought I was happy with the spot cooler fix but after doing some more research I bit the bullet and ordered two 670 Windforce x3 cards and what a difference! Haven't gone over 68C in Sli putting the cards through their paces and that temp was in Crysis 2 when I was hitting over 80C with the two reference cards. Very happy indeed.

All the reviews were correct, fantastic cards.
