After much debating i finally plumped for the above card and am really pleased with its performance at 1920x1080 with silly levels of AA on.Compared to my 5870 it`s far better handling AA and seems to be that bit smoother at lower FPS,compared to the 5870 that sometimes felt like it was hitching.Gta 4 has never run or looked better and has no hitching at all.WOOHOO,thats the good bit out of the way.Now comes the BUT..........

But i`m a bit concerned with the temps and fan speeds.During heavy usage apps such as crysis, heaven benchmark etc the temp has been as high as 89 C with a fan speed of 83% !.This is with the side of the case on,but even removing it usually drops it around 3 or 4 degrees only. What concerns me the most is that the fan has to go so fast to hold it at those temps,i wouldnt mind so much if it was that high and the fan was spinning at say 50-60 % but at 80+it`s got an annoying whine and goes against all the claims i`ve heard about the Gtx580 being a pretty quiet solution for a top end card.Room is generally between 18 and 20 degrees so very much average in that respect.

I can`t seem to find the information anywhere but does this palit http://www.palit.biz/enews/event/wo...sign/Palit-GTX580-Owndesign-Newsletter-en.php
Actually not have the vapour chamber system and instead uses a twin fan/heatsink solution instead? and did the previous 1 fan solution have the vapour chamber like the nvidia stock card?

I bought this card from a company that showed the card as the 1 fan palit clocked at standard 772 mhz on there website, but this twin fan is clocked at 783 mhz.Has anyone got either of these cards and if so what sort of temps/fan speed are you running.I`m seriously tempted to take it back with those temps because when summer comes round and we get some 25 to 30 degrees C days i dread to think what sort of temps/fan speed it will be running :( .Any advice would be appreciated.

Just to add i`ve noticed the 1 fan version on Oclockers here http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-145-OK&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1812 this states that it has a vapour chamber solution. The place i got my 2 fan card from actually shows this model on there website,so im pretty convinced that the model i have doesn`t have a vapour chamber and instead is a heatsink/dual fan combo. If this is the case ....i`m not happy :)

I have the same card and am not getting anywhere near the temps you are. Mine is virtually silent in Windows, and idles around 35 degrees, and after several hours gaming it is no more than 60 degrees. The card is actually quieter and cooler than the Sapphire Toxic 4870 it replaced. I have not altered the stock fan speeds or anything. The fans do get noisier when playing games but are not really that noticeable. I recieved mine as the Overclockers UK default 580 and have been pleasantly surprised with it.

The card you have linked does not have the vapour chamber your best bet would be to install afterburner and do a fan profile
