Hi all

I purchased my girlfriend this camera (second hand, 2 months old, everything was confirmed working at the time) for her upcoming trip to China and Australia. She is currently in China and has emailed me to say that the touch screen no longer works. She can still use the camera as a point and click but she cannot change any settings.

My question is this: does this camera have a button or setting that "locks" the touch screen? This is the only thing I can think of, other than it actually being broken. Any help is appreciated :)

Steve_M: if you can have a look when you are around your camera for me I would be forever indebted. I haven't managed to find anything in the manual but its also hard to relay what the manual says into real world actions when the camera isn't in front of you, so I may have just overlooked it.

These might have been tuned off in the menu? iirc the menu isn't touch enabled so will still be accessible.

Custom -> Touch settings
Touch quick menu (on/off) - enable or disable the touch-based Quick Menu
Defocus control (on/off) - whether you can use the background blur feature using the touchscreen
Touch shutter (on/off) - whether you can take a photo by touching an area on the LCD
Touch AF (on/off) - whether you can focus by touching the LCD
Touch guide (on/off) - whether descriptions of the touch features are shown on the LCD
Touch scroll (Low, high speed) - how quickly you swipe through images in playback mode

Also might help:

Setup menu -> Calibration (For the touch screen)

Excellent thanks all so much for your help :)

EDIT: She now confesses she dropped it. Explains that then, thanks everyone but I am fairly sure this is going to be a hardware fault now. :(
