Am trying to decide which TV to go with for my living room.. I'm after a 42 inch screen but am not sure if its worth spending the extra cash and getting the G10 over the S10?

I didn't really want to spend above £600 but would if it was really worth it.. Also I've read that the LG 42LH5000 is highly recommended, would it be worth going for this one instead?

Any advice is welcome! :)

Got a 50S11 (same as S10 I think) from the highstreet, because the S looked better than the G in the shop as it had higher contrast ratio and didn't notice any loss in going down from 600Hz to 400Hz picture. To get both was a V10 I think.
So I saved the money and went S10/11.
Built in SAT tuner wasn't important to me as I will either want a Slovak SAT TV or a SKY HD+ box.

Now that it's run for a few hours it looks good on freeview and great on BD.

Well after phoning John Lewis for a price match, it seems they don't have any G10s in stock and aren't likely too for a while! They have plenty of S10s so might just save my cash and get one of those..

To be honest, I think the S10 will probably do me.. I would love the G10, but I can't get it cheaply with a 5 year warranty. That way I can save £100 and put it toward a Denon AVR-1610! :)

Thanks for all the input!

G10 ia the base model in the Neo DP Panel range and thus has a superior panel I believe to the S10.

So is just based on theory market spin and Internet hearsay...... Well it maybe, but in practice next to each other there was little difference, except the lower spec G10's looked less black, rich, and contrast than the S10/11 next to it.. So the Cheap S looked better than the lower range G10 panels. Strange but true.

This was the view of myself and my mate who owns a Pioneer 5090.

I'd say save the money, as we will all want to upgrade in a year or so to a 3D display !!!..... Hence I did not invest in the last few 5090's about now.

Nope it was based on my own research when buying a tv about 6 months ago

Can't find the S11 anywhere though, but if it's the same as the S10 the contrast ratio is not better than the G series and above.

Panasonic quote the S series at 30,000:1 native and the G series up at 40,000:1 native.

The S isn't a bad tv at all, just the g series and above were better, to me anyway.

And I really wouldn't get hung up on the 400/600mhz ifc thing, it's off permenently on our V10 as it just makes some things look weird. On some tv programs it made people look like the film had been speeded up, like some sort of benny hill sketch (and no I wasn't just watching benny hill :p) :)

I'd get whatever was in budget as they are all at different price points.
