Hello everyone. I am currently looking for a new soundcard but I am quite picky about what I want from it, and the confusion between the ever-fading Creative cards and the new kids on the block - the Asus Xonars - is rife.
I am currently using the on board Realtek High Def Audio built into the Gigabyte GA-P35C/DS3R Mobo, and have in the past used an old Sound Blaster Audigy (model number SB0090) but removed it after finding it wasn't working as well as I had hoped beyond giving me the "WhatUHear" option in programs like Adobe Audition. The on board seemed fine, and recently discovered that even my onboard sound can do the same as "WhatUHear" through it's "Stereo Mix". I also have the Logitech x540 speakers, but I fear the sound card may be inhibiting them.
If you agree this could well be the case, what sort of soundcard should I get? The only things I must have are front panel case audio i/o compatibility and the ability to record audio from the soundcard as you would through "Sterero Mix" or "WhatUHear".
