Is there anyone else who gets really worried leaving their car parked in a place they dont know that well, to the point you constantly want to go back & check it's still there or not been vandalised?

Parked the volvo in a car park overnight once & came back to it to find the wing mirror bent backwards, smashed & a load of road cones on the roof and around the car, ever since i've always been worried about parking anywhere other than at home or at work.

In a couple of weeks weather permitting, me & a few friends are going to Cleethorpes for the day & taking a load of kids with us. I'm taking my 8yr old sister & thought if it's warm it'd be a nice drive there in the Capri, rather than taking the 16.5 foot barge or the Rover Diesel that struggles to hit 80 on the speedometer.

But i cant help worrying about leaving my car parked in a car park or on the sea front for 6 hours, i keep thinking it's gonna get bumped or keyed or something else stupid, i know it should be fine but still worry.

Anyone else have an irrational fear of parking? :(

Not really, because otherwise I wouldn't go anywhere.

I was in Bristol last weekend, and I left the car in a road behind the hotel since there was a coach blocking the car park entrance. When we got back from the wedding I going to, at about 11.30 I looked out of our window, into the street we'd parked in and saw a load of kids running over the top of the cars.

I went down to have a look and fortunately no damage, but if there had been it would just have been a police report and an insurance claim. Not a lot you can do except grin and get on with it.

No, people cower with fear when they see the Volvo - stealing it is the last thing on anyone's mind :D

Nope, our £30k company Audi hasn't been vandalized once, and the most we have left the Westfield is on the club stand @ Castle Combe for a few hours - but there was probably always a few club members nearby watching it anyways!

Though saying that we live in Bath :D , but my grandparents in Swindon  have had wheelarches carefully removed from their Saxo VTR (obviously theft not mindless vandalism).

Nope, the only place I've trouble with vandalism was outside my house in a quietish non-council estate.

I now live in the town centre and hove no trouble. Even once parked on a Saturday night with my window wide open within 100 yards of a takeaway, three pubs and a youth club.

All the time... Even my works car park which has a security guard that rarely sits down and swoops like a hawk on cars he doesn't recognise entering the car park. I often make up an excuse for my own personal sanity to visit my car at lunch time just to make sure everything is in order.

Nope. It's insured.
But you'd be claiming on your own policy if anything did happen...

Yeah, parking here is pretty good and 99.9% of the time parking right outside your house is guaranteed. However, that 0.1% that you have to park no more than 100 yards away but out of line of sight is terrible.

More than once I've gone out and checked. :o

So the worst that could happen is I lose some or all of my NCB. It's really not worth losing sleep over.

In my opinion, just like time is money, I believe stress is money. I'd rather sacrifice money (or risk sacrificing money) to relieve stress. Does that make any sense whatsoever? :p Spending your day worrying whether someone is going to dent your car is not healthy. It's just a car!

Totally agree :)

Normally worry about the pop of a weekend. With all the drunk louts out it's probably just time until I go down to find it kicked in or someone tried to boot one of the lights off. Got it insured to the hilt but it's the principle more than anything :(

Couldn't care less where it gets left it's just a car. If i felt the complusion to check on the car every ten minutes then I think where the car was parked would be the least of problems

Yea, I get this. I'm always careful where I park it and always wonder if it'll be ok. Not becuase I fear people may vandalise it, more becuase I don't trust other peoples parking and watch too many swing doors open in carparks with reckless abandon neither knowing nor caring whether they damage adjacent cars or not.

Depends where Im going, but I do worry sometimes. Quite often at the weekends me and my friends go to either Dartford or Gravesend town centre so we can sit, drink and chat in the Wetherspoons until 1AM. If Im driving, this means parking on Gravesend High Street, which by midnight is usually full of lurching drunks and has gangs of chavs roving around, so I admit I often sit in the pub thinking about the car. Pretty sad as it's only a boring old Focus, but I know chavs love to destory other peoples property just for kicks, and Id rather not have that happen to my property.

I used to worry a lot more when I was borrowing my sister's car. Was worse when I was responsible for her property.
