So the string has snapped on my cantilever parasol (again) and I'm going of replacing it on a more 'normal'set one that sits in the middle of a table. What's the pros and cons of wood vs aluminium as it will likely get left out in all weathers (although will have a cover on in winter, or be taken down if it's easy to do). I liked the idea of the cantilever one, but it's not been that windy but it was enough to cause it to fail (also suspending a 3m x 3m bit of umbrella at a distance causes a bit of sag on the main strut).
