Just been to check my post at my old house and there is a 150quid fine for my old car - thing is, it is dated after I sold it! It is dated quite close to when I sold it, but I'm worried that I still own it! I have no way of contacting the guy unless my phone company can give me a backdated itemised bill. Can I check with the DVLA if I still officially own it? what if I do? I have no idea where the car is now! Help me overclockers, you're my only hope!

Hi, did you send off the tear-off red bit when you sold the car?

If yes, you're covered. If not you've got a dilemma cos it's a fine of up to £1000 for not advising the DVLA when you sold your car.

lol, just give them a ring on Monday and explain. They're usually quite helpful iirc and just insist that you sent it! Did you write out a receipt or anything when you sold it? Have any transactions that would back it up?

Erm, the only thing was that it was due its tax like 2 days after I sold it, which I'm assuming the other guy would have bought, but maybe he didnt, it wouldnt surprise me. No receipt either, I shouldnt have been in such a rush to sell it!

its ok, you can sort it out. Just ring the DVLA on Monday morning and say 'I don't know why I've received this because I sold the car ***** earlier and I sent the slip back as required' Then ask them to look into it.

You should be fine :)

Looking at the dates I think he must have gotten it when the same night I sold it to him! Luckily it was 2am and the slip was filled in the day before, so I might be in luck!

Or not considering my luck with ******* cars.
