Hey all,

My sister got a parking ticket a month or so on 10/09/2011 - From a company called 'Uk Parking Control Ltd'

She panicked, went to pay, I told her not to as its not the council, so effectively they have just sent her an invoice, she said ok and didn't pay it.

Well today she receives in the post a letter from 'Debt Recovery Plus LTD' o.0

Acting on behalf of UK Parking Control LTD

Now does she have to pay this? Or Should she carry on ignoring?

Thanks all,
Jake

Hi Darren,

Although I've not been on here for a while, I do always get notification e-mails - just picked yours up!

As the other members have advised nothing ever came of it.

When I first got one from UKPC I wrote back to them contesting it because the date was wrong, but they just ignored me and kept sending me more and more threatening letters (from various 'debt collectionagencies'). Eventually they went away.

When my girlfriend got one we never even replied to them once. We got a couple more letters I think but then they eventually left us alone.

From experience, I would say just file them in David Brent's "Special Filing Cabinet,' - the bin.

Sounds like the same **** different name

I got a ticket for stopping in a yellow box a few weeks ago by Ealing county council. Traffic was crawling and my front wheels were barely in the box when I stopped. Had to cough up £130, or £65 if paid within 14 days. I paid within the 14 days instead of waiting as long as possible.

missus got a proper council one yeaterday, I know we will end up paying but just looking at ways to make them work for it

There's a sentence in law that goes along the lines of:

"You cannot charge for a greater amount that is deemed to be lost by the cause of the person parking there".

Or something along those lines, so what you CAN dispute is that the fine you are being charged is excessive. For example many inner city car parks ran by the council will charge you fines of around £20-40 if you go over the allotted time frame that you initially paid for. However if you just went 6 minutes over, you can dispute that you have not caused them to loose any money by you being 6 minutes late....

You will have to settle an amount to pay though, and this will be no more than 6 minutes extra on the meter reading.
