Parks & Recreation

Its a good show.
Ron is my favourite character.
Loved it when he went to the bowling alley and used and Indian guy's bowling technique to post a perfect score.

I felt that season 1 and 2 were the weakest and it gets better from then on.

It's more like Scrubs, really. Like really wilfully silly. It gets compared to Community a lot, but I don't think that's quite accurate as Community is much more surreal and so much of it is about pop culture and genre parodying and so on, so it's not even remotely in this world.

It's nothing like Community - other than premiering at a similar time - although it began a little lot like The Office which Greg Daniels also wrote for (as well as SNL, The Simpsons, and King Of The Hill).

It's a wonderfully funny show and is definitely worth bearing with after the fairly shaky first season. Ben (Adam Scott) also featured in Party Down which you must watch. Seriously, you should go and do that right now.

Party Down is indeed excellent.

It's a shame that most of the genuinely good American (and Canadian) comedies never seem to make it over here, or they do but are pushed to some obscure channel or timeslot where nobody sees them. Why is Two and a Half Morons given so much focus when stuff like The League or It's Always Sunny aren't even shown?

Bah.

TAAHM gets simply obscene ratings which is an accusation you could never lay on Parks, Community, Arrested Development, Party Down or any of those types of shows which run the gamut of cancelled/not cancelled every season.

I just read that Henry Winkler will be appearing in season 6:)

...As Jean-Ralphio's father:D:D

BTW, On rewatching through recently, whilst the real stand-out performance in the show is from Amy Poehler, and Ron and Tom are really great characters, I came to realise that the real hero of the show is Chris Pratt as Andy...it would be so easy to go way OTT with that character and become boring, but he pulls it off perfectly imo.

:D :D

Anyone else noticed how much Britain is referenced in this show? Every other episode someone mentions London, or does a British accent or even calls Scones Scones, instead of biscuits.

I thought maybe one of the cast or writers was British, but it appears not, after looking on IMDB.

Resurrecting thread time. I've been watching this for the last month or two, and I have to say it's excellent. If anyone hasn't seen it yet I do recommend it. The first season is not that great but improves after that.

Ron Swanson is my fav character I reckon.

Ron Swanson is amazing. I love that Nick Offerman is pretty much the same guy in real life as well. :D

I was flicking through an issue of Wood magazine (LOL) in a waiting room the other day. There was a guest section with Nick Offerman which I assumed was going to be some light-hearted parody type article. Nope. The guy could pretty much build his own log cabin and all the furniture for it, by the look of it!
