what a night mare it is hunting for a cockatoo or african grey on the internet for reasonable money with cage,

so many fake adds about driving me crazy been looking for 2 days now and still got no where.

Theres a huge difference in looking after a cockatoo and an african grey. The AG requires a lot more attention than the cockatoo.

Rather than online why not look locally in the papers etc?

Are you going to be able to raise/look after and train one though? Cockatiels are tasking enough to look after from babies and Cockatoos will be one level up :p

i had the same trouble trying to find a parrot.
got the cage £275 but it is huge, then asked about in pet shops for a grey.
got a few phone numbers and a breader in the next town had three ready to go.
so the wife did get her pressy:)

Try and find a reputable breeder you can visit rather than look on the internet. There are bound to be one or two - a local pet shop would probably know of one.
They are not cheap anywhere though and for good reason. Stops anyone just buying one because they thought is was 'a good idea'.

As has been said if you want an African Grey make sure you really know what you are letting yourself in for! We have had one for about 12 years and they are far more complicated to look after and understand than cockatoos.

Think of it as a small child and that will be close.

Birds shouldn't be caged up in a house. :(

As long as it's not small it's perfectly fine and they treat it as a home too because they go in and out of it when they want to eat birdfood or sleep.

If their handlers look after them well then they will get equal playtime outside of the cage and be perfectly happy and grow well.

You can tell a happy bird when you see one so I don't know what you're on about, doesn't sound like you've ever owned a pet bird at all.

I thought parrot hunting was going to involve creeping through the jungle with a shotgun calling out "Polly want a cracker?"
