I do have a job at the moment

Weds.. Thurs and Friday 3:00pm - 5:30pm in a primary school looking after the kids at the after school club

I need another job asap but cant find one anywhere.

I have tried Tescos and Sainsburys but they aint taking people on at the moment.

I dont really fancy working in a pub. But I really want something for the evening.

I am at college most days.. then I have my primary school job after.

Anyone got any advice or is in the same shoes?

You're kinda picking the wrong time to want another job. It's January, all the Christmas temps have finished now, and generally in the retail sector, this is when business starts to drop off, and therefore not many places will be looking to hire.

Sorry to say it mate, but you'll be lucky if you can get a job at this time of year (this coming from a fellow student who luckily already has a job) :)

Best Part time job I ever had was in a pub, helped me out to pay off my debts also!

+1 to get a job in a pub, quite likely to find somewhere that pays cash in hand also...

Exactely why I asked the question.

Currently working in a pub as my second job, 2 - 3 nights a week, spondulie in hand. It's more like a social life and you get to meet ladies!!!*

*Apologies if you are a lady!

I study in Canterbury and job hunting competition is fierce. GAME recieved 2000 CV's in the 3 months up until xmas this year when I was chatting to a guy in there. I work in a shoe shop next door and it's all about just walking in at the right time when we are in need of some staff.

As said before as well, January onwards is a very slow period and many shops wont look for staff during this time. June - August is the best time to look for jobs in student towns if your willing to work a bit over the summer because students from the year before have probably just quit.

My Christmas temp contract with John Lewis has been extended to end of Feb, budget allowing I should get a permanent contract with them hopefully. It's a bitch not having the money from it (£5.80/hour | 1 day (Sat) 9 hours | £200~ a month) due to keeping my car running though :@

Don't be fussy and just go for anything. I'm a student too and work part-time on Checkouts. Yes, it's horrible but it's a job and I can handle it part-time. Just be grateful your not working there full-time!
