Well you know what to do don't you? Make the invite available to all, pretend to be a 14 year old girl and if you want to insinuate it's either a birthday party/orgy (I don't often get them confused but it seems there may be a little doubt about the distinction) then so much the better...

It is the fault of whoever allows anyone with a naive knowledge of the internet to use it, be it Facebook or anything else.

Don't allow anyone to use the internet unless they can explain clearly how the internet works and what RFC 822 talks about at a minimum

Of course, that would mean the vast majority of people couldn't use it.

I've been bitten by events having different settings to user profiles etc.. copius photos of me doing untold things on an events page which everyone (unknown to me) had access to, even friends who only had the very basic information setting.

On the other hand, speeds would be SO very much higher, so a sound plan on balance

Yeah well, the photos were not uploaded by me, however I wanted them up so certain friends could see them.

Privacy savvy in the way that I check my settings and keep on top of it, but this one slipped through the net as it wasn't an event I created, yet it gets advertised to all (even limited profile) of my friends with whatever content the creator has decided to include.

At the end of the day I should just be more sensible in general and then the original photos would have never exisited

To be honest, I'd prefer it to the majority of internet 'services' that we have the luxury of today.

I'm all for technology, but I personally believe it's gone too far towards mass market gimmick than innovation and changing life for the better.

Certainly, better regulation would be an improvement but then people will complain about rights and freedom etc. I definitely fall on the "control is better than anarchy" side of the fence, and I appreciate other people will disagree, often vehemently.

I am certain that the internet was better before google and facebook. Most of the web is pointless IMHO, but unfortunately it seems to be the way the world is headed.
