Hi there

If the power assisted steering pump fails on a Focus is the car still drivable? I know the steering will probably be heavy but in terms of having to get this fixed ASAP is the car safe? Seems I have a very slow leak but Ford dealer said it will cost £400 to repalce the whole thing. I'm taking it to a local garage to see if it is a leak in a pipe or the unit itself this Thursday. I can get a used pump for £55 but not sure how big a job it is to fit, hopefully less than Ford's price of £400.

Thanks

Michael

I don't know where it is leaking from I just took it in for a health check at Ford. Just says PAS pump leaking on the sheet. It can't be leaking bad as when I had MOT he said the car has an oil leak in the advisory section of the MOT certificate. So I put some paper under the car and for 2 days there was no oil or liquid. I think the guy who did the MOTconfused the PAS pump leaking with an oil leak.

Thanks

Michael
