Hey guys, I'm just looking for opinons from people wether they think pass plus is actually worth doing?

I passed my test yesterday and I have the money to do it if its worth doing. Its more for the experience than insurance reduction for me btw.

Anyone here done it?

Thanks, Wayne. :D

Through my experience it depends a lot on what insurance company you go with. Some companies don't even take it into account.

Maybe do some research into how much discount you would get first by calling some of them up?

I did it of it saved me £400. Most insurers that specialise with young drivers often take it into consideration. Even if you gained no savings on insurance, it's still well worth it.

Depends what you want to be a significantly better driver or to get cheaper insurance.
Insurance wise, yeah ok.

But for the better driver your money is best spent elsewhere, skidpan training, track/ rally driving courses. Just learning the advanced techniques of car control. Plus it's going to be way more fun.
Pass plus is basically just the stuff you can learn on your own anyway, motorway driving, night driving, bout it really, or so i've heard.

Thanks for the many replys guys, seems a lot of mixed opinions. I'll look into that iaind cheers for that, as I say I'm not fussed if it makes insurance cheaper (Obviously would be nice) was more about the extra things I won't have covered so far.

I asked my instructor about this when I passed.

He said to go away and run some quotes with and without pass plus, and see what difference it makes as it can vary wildly from person to person.

For me it made next to no difference, but then I think that was largely down to my age.

if you aren't bothered about insurance then i'd go for skid pan training, it'll teach you more than the pass plus

B@

Will it? Last time I checked, skid pan training didn't teach you how to use motorways properly and driving at night?

I don't see how you can "learn on your own", I just read that as pick up bad habits as you go along. People are also forgetting that most rally/skin pan courses require you to be over 21 or to of had a licence for a set period of time. Useless for a teenager who's just passed their test.

Personally I found Pass Plus to be a complete waste of time, I don't remember 1 thing I picked up from it.

Never used it with Insurance eaither, although that was a very long time when I did pass plus (near 10 years ago).

If you are going to be the main driver on an insurance policy soon, it will pay for itself. If not, it would be to improve your standard of driving.

I did it, and my driving was better as a result, particularly motorway driving.

At the end of the day pass plus is just one session with an instructor. IAM membership will take about 10~12 sessions and will teach you so much more - for what you get and what you learn, its proportionaly really cheap
