Passed my test on monday 6 minors \o/

quick question are insurers still giving out mega discounts for doing pass plus?

Congrats :D

As far as I know not all insurers recognise pass plus, but I know Quinn Direct are definately one of them though and a mate of mine got £200 knocked off his Insurance when he completed it and then notified his insurer.

first off conrats,

second, i saved nearly 1k for doing pass plus as it gives you a years no claims, that was 8 years ago though so im not sure how it works now.

spend some time on quote sites and do quotes with and without pass plus, or ring them and ask they should tell ya

pass plus nowadays isnt really recognised, it was recently on radio 1. I'm very surprised by the poster above saying got a year no claims. my experience is pass plus didnt change premium at all....maybe a tenner.

I've never heard that it gives you a years NCB either.

I got a years worth of NCB through Eagle Star (now Zurich) when I did my Pass Plus but that was a long time ago.

Best bet is do some quotes with and without then see if it is worth spending the money

Well done!

I didn't bother with pass-plus. If you want to do it, do it for gaining the extra experience, don't do it soley for saving money on insurance. You'll probably end up disappointed - there are a lot variables to take into account when it comes to insurance.

im not sure wether it was that its supposed to give you the difference of a years no claims but my instructor told me it gives you a years no claims so i claimed a years no claims and pass plus so maybe thats why i got the discount.

this was 8 years ago though as i said so i might of all changed now, im also back to 0 years as ive had a company car for the last 3 years and i have no interest in changing jobs so when i do need to get my own car i will be looking into insurers that accept company car use as no claims. but im no longer in the < 25yr old bracket that pay massivly over the odds.

I didn't bother, I passed when I was 24 so my age took my insurance down enough so the pass plus cost me more to do than it took off my insurance. Unless you're 17 there's no point.

Did my pass plus 4 years ago when I passed. Knocked about £200 off, £125 of which went towards the course so you'll be about £50-75 better off.

It's useful anyway to be taught proper motorway driving and get a bit of experience on them.
