Do you have to go to passport place to get biometrics done?

Mine's got a chip on it and I didn't have to do anything like that. Isn't the chip just a copy of the passport picture and your details?

yea i got one recently and didnt have my eyes scanned , finger prints scanned or anything like that.

So what do the electronic gate things check? Just facial recognition against the picture?

Epassport gates are rubbish, my gf has a new passport and tried to use these, I queued and got in before her, cos the gate wouldn't work and needed a person to sort it
