Past Tense Of Treat?

Tret is completely wrong. Just because people say it doesnt make it right. It's as correct as 'innit' instead of 'isn't it'. I wonder if the two are related.

It's southerners who miss out letters? they miss 'T' out of lots of words?

Compu'er
"eat it" becomes "ee euh"
and for 'thought' they say 'for' ?:o

Hmm that sounds like all the northerners I've ever met. Next you'll be complaining about this weird word, "the", that southerners use!

Tret does seem to be a northern word - wifes a geordie and she says it quite often.

I hope you slap her every time she says it.:p

Nope, that sounds like Northerners, or southern Chavs, not proper people from the south....;)

Probably along the lines of "I ain't got no compu'er!" Which makes me want to slap them for so many reasons.:p

This thread confuses me. I don't recall ever having heard anyone say tret or trat. As far as I'm concerned, the simple past and part participle are both "treated."

Except that on occasion spelt reads better than spelled or spoilt vs spoiled. Sometimes in the case where two options may be technically correct one will be easier to read, that's why I asked for context.
There is no context though.
spelled is more common in AmE, and spelt in BrE and Australian English.

There's nothing more to it.
