Hi Guys,

Looking to build a 4Ghz i7 920 build with a UD5, just need to pick the ram.

What are people’s experiences with:

Patriot Viper 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600MHz) Low Latency (PVT36G1600LLK)

Never used Patriot before, their RMA anygood? Experiences with overclocking would be good as well.

not had an issue with mine so not sure about RMA.
XMP setup straight away @ 1600mhz and are fast as.
Got my i7 @ 4.2.
Spec & build in sig

would recomend

Working fine here with a UD3R, i7 920 and i7. Also set XMP which works great.

Using the memory with the Gigabyte UD5, Running @ 4ghz no probs.

+1 seems there max o/c 1700Mhz with cas9 these are not the best o/c ram but if you want fast ram to run at their speeds there good. i got mine at £68 before the massive price hike

Cracking bit of ram, the day I got mine through and Asus P6T I went straight in @ 4.0 GHZ (no steady progressing) 1.375 (bios) instant 12 hours stable @1603 MHZ.

Good to hear that I'm not alone in failing to OC these modules. The damn ClubOC review of this kit lead me to believe that 1866 C8 was on the menu but it's categorically not, I can't even squeeze 1650 out of them with the XMP timings.

Mine doesnt like running above 1146Mhz, any more and my system crashes all the time

Mine runs fine @ 1600 MHz mate, with my processor at 4GHz. 200 BCLK, and 8x RAM multiplier at 1.64V.

I have read lots of reviews of this ram claiming decent overclocks, one was running C9 at 1900Mhz.. I hope they're right because I need 1780MHz minimum out of these...

Landed today...

Has a green PCB, thought it was meant to be black but no biggy.. Currently in my Foxconn X38A at 1780MHz, had to use loose timings to get it stable though.. So far so good!

The circuit board is green, I'm sure they're black on the overclockers page and they are definitely black in the reviews I've been reading. It's no issue for me but I know some are picky about this sort of thing.

I'm going to try for 1868MHz tonight!
