PAYG from abroad. Which is the cheapest?

Hi, i'm going to Italy next week on holiday and i've been trying to find out how much PAYG is now from abroad. I know it used to be like £1.40 a minute but then I remember there being some big thing about the phone companies having to reduce the prices.

I have a Vodafone PAYT sim here and a £10 e-topup voucher my sister got with her new phone a few weeks ago but she's on o2 so we have no use for it which i'm thinking of using but don't know how much it will be to call home from Italy. Has anyone got any idea? Does anyone know how much it is to receive a call also? I don't want to waste all the money on a few minutes of talking. I also have some o2 sims here and if it's cheap enough I wouldn't mind topping up and using one of them instead of a pay phone over there but again I can't find details of the cost on o2's website.

for calling within Italy and to the UK vodafone is by far the cheapest if you get onto the vodafone network over there and make sure you have vodafone passport on your account (free), you pay 75p to connect and then the standard charge per min as if you were in the UK. for recieveing calls its 75p to connect then free for an hour.
