PAYG handset to beat Lobster 700TV for £50?

father in law needs a new handset.
he's currently on virgin PAYG and they are doing the Lobster 700TV for 50 notes at the mo'.

it's been a while since i last upgraded, so i'm not sure what's good now but i have seen the lobster offer, and it seems pretty good.
so, is there any better handset to be had right now for £50 quid?

doubt he'll be willing to stretch the budget, he's had his last phone 7 years and that was a 20 quid nokia, voice calls and sms and nothing else.

by better i mean, more features and/or smaller and/or cheaper.

Its looks an ugly phone, but it is a decent handset, good battery, the DAB reception is excellent too.

O2 is doing Sony K750i for £49.99 at the moment... much better phone.

K750 is a cracking phone and far superior to the Lobster TV for most "normal users". I've lived with a windows smartphone of almost identical spec to the lobster and found it slow, cumbersome, quirky and unreliable; Unless he's really keen on mobile TV- or wants to install windows mobile apps- K750 is the way to go IMO.

well to be honest i think he'd be fine with a 20 quid nokia replacement, but i think he just feels like something a little more fancy. in reality i doubt he'll use the extra features much, but then i suspect very few of us do use all the features on our phones.

thanks for the suggestions, i'll look at the k750 too.
i'll probably give him a shortlist of 2 or 3 models and let him take the final decision.
