right guys im after some advice. I've paid a deposit for a bike that was listed on ebay as a classified. I have a ballance of over 6k to pay.

I cant pay cash on collection as I am in N.Ireland and the bike is in England. I plan on having it lifted by a transport company. The guy has very good feedback on ebay and seems like a genuine bloke however I want to know what you guys would recommend.

If there are any problems would I be in trouble if I used a direct bank transfer for payment? This would be the easiest option for both of us and is how I have paid the deposit.

Bike is a kawasaki VN2000

Owned one a few years back and stupidly sold it. I've had every type of bike now and didnt enjoy any of them as much as the big VN.

I suppose im just bricking it handing over that kind of money via a bank transfer. So many horror stories about people getting scammed I want to be careful.

With that kind of money I would be taking a trip over the water before handing over any more cash.
Assuming you have everything in place you could then make a phone call to have the money transferred or use t'internet banking.
Get insurance ready before you go and ride it home.

This, a couple of grand, maybe, but with over 6 grand in his pocket... I would pay an extra £200 and get your arse over there and ship it/ride it back.

Another option was put to me tonight by the guy picking up the bike. He said it's common practice for him to go collect the bike, inspect it and give me a call, I can then transfer it straight in, happens more or less instantly

If you and the seller use the same bank it's usually pretty much instant, otherwise it can take a couple of hours to process.

Well today is the day. The bike was collected on Wednesday and is on its way here now, should have it around 5pm. The guy transporting the bike phoned to say it was in perfect condition and running without any problems, also a full years MOT.

After doing a bit of research I was happy to pay for the bike before it was collected, his feedback was perfect and for vehicles of similar value.

Will update with pics later :)

All went as planned :) Bike was exactly as described and the transport company was very reassuring. Purpose fitted van so not some cowboy with a transit.

Will post pics asap
