Paypal holding payment to a seller on items I bought question

In any case if the seller had complied with the instructions he would have his 2k within a few days rather than being 70 quid in the red. It's the seller's own fault for not being able to comprehend a simple, well explained procedure.

Nah it's just easier to panic and throw a wobbly because they don't understand something...

Well, I am not sure this will go ahead now as I have found the photos of the FT-DX5000 he sent are actually from an old Radioworld advert and not (perhaps, and certainly not current) photos of the items being advertised on Ham Radio Deals. I have got the jitters and asked for some verified current photos. I think he has legitimately sent a Paypal refund unless he's really really good at faking Paypal correspondence. But until it physically shows in my bank account it's on hold. So the tables are kind of reversed. I wish the damn pub would open, I have found myself scanning Ebay and such places, something I wouldn't normally do. What I have actually bought is this, a 2 metre circa 1kW twin G17B amp, partly finished by a now deceased German amateur. Being in to high end engineering I couldn't resist, it was obviously a labour of love in his machine shop. Getting it later today. http://www.chriswilson.tv/2m-amp.zip

This needs a thread when PayPal have already explained to you why its on hold....

Hopefully it won't expand to the extent sections of the Chinese Virus general discussion one have over whether the governments at the time crystal clear stay at home message meant it was still OK to go Kayaking and surfing ... ;)

I think you've done the right thing, if someone is using stock photographs then it's a complete deal breaker.

That's very nice, some serious work has gone into that. You'd better get a real licence so you can use it properly ;) :D *runs*

By the time I get it working, if indeed that occurs at all, the licencing system will probably have been scrapped ;) And I only have very lossy VHF co-ax, so I need plenty of oomph at the TX end ;)

Knowing me it will still be in its current state in a year, but we'll see what needs doing when it arrives.

Paypal are holding on to your money until you receive the item and are happy with it. This will be because of the amount involved. They don't want to be on the hook for the refund if it goes **** up and the seller extracts the money before you raise a claim and does one.

As it states all he needs to do is provide the tracking info and as soon as it's marked delivered, 24hrs later he gets his cash.

Given what you've posted I can't see how it's not abundantly clear to all parties.

Yep this. Happens all the time.

New sellers, old sellers that haven't used the account for a while, large amounts for the first time, selling something you don't normally sell, etc.

Never had this happen before when selling items over £1k like camera equipment, I would personally never ship an item if a payment had not been received, paypal seems like a scammers dream!

Got a refund, although it took several days from Paypal saying they had received it, and it showing in my bank account. All was good as I found the same transceiver with a minor, easily fixable fault for nearly a grand cheaper and I picked it up yesterday.

Thanks for the advice everyone, appreciated.
