sold a graphics card to an unverified buyer, somewhere in Scotland.
Ended up losing the card, and £300
I had his address, but I never did anything about it.
I'm very very careful about who I sell to now on aution sites etc, and absolutely deteste PayPal with a passion, they are the worst financial institution I have ever dealt with. But as consumers our hands are tied with using eBay, since eBay owns PayPal, it favours them making any other payment options seem highly unsafe (more so than PayPal? hmmm). On the flipside, I feel very confidant buying via PayPal on ebay, because PayPal are naturally on the side of the buyer in a dispute situation, since it's the easier side to reverse any transaction from: problem with item? refund, item not recieved? refund, buyer account hacked, fraudster has item? refund, I'm familiar with that last instance unfortuantely.
What got me was my account went to negative £300, then a fileplanet subscription of £1.50 or something stupidly small, got £300 piggybacked on it, ****ing direct debit.
