PC and Console fan boys, Whats the deal ?

Do you use the steam feature and run a HDMI cable to your TV or is there a better way of doing it?

Yeah, I have a long HDMI cable from my PC to the TV, it doesn't look very tidy at the moment, as it's just a loose cable, but planning to do a load of work in the living room in the next couple of months anyway, so it will all be hidden away with wall plates once that's done, so nice and tidy. I use Steam Big Picture a little, but I also have a wireless mouse and keyboard, so just use those to launch the games as required.

It's not quite as seamless an interface as a console, but once in-game it's indiscernible (other than the better graphics/performance and the ability to use Teamspeak :p)

The whole debate is boring.

People who preach one way or the other are boring.

Yes I use a console, but I don't preach to anyone about it. It's because my friends all have one too and we play online together!

If I wanted a top of the range PC I'd buy one tomorrow, but for the second I don't and won't.

I'm using a loose HDMI at the moment and a 5m micro-usb for my XB1 controller :p

I've always favored the PC platform, however I do have the best of both worlds. I have a competent gaming PC, PS4 and 3DS XL.

I do see the appeal of consoles. They are cheaper in the short term, much more accessible, and the experience is generally consistent.

One of my biggest grievances with the PC platform is the advancement of hardware. I spent a considerable amount on my system, and it already feels dated in contrast to what's currently available. While people are flaunting their GTX 980s, I'm turning to my PS4 for some measure of comfort.

Now, you might argue that there is no obligation to upgrade, and one can simply tone down the graphics settings and still achieve a superior experience to the consoles. This, however, does not sit well with me. I'm a slave to the upgrade itch, but my wallet is no longer up to the task!

What about dat fps though bruv?

Yeah console is easy to play with friends and stuff, I used to hit up the 360 quite a bit on GTA it was always fun.

My only gripe is the way games have to be graphically tuned down for consoles.

Members market will help you out.

I just got a 7970 GHZ for 100 pounds and whilst it's not a gtx 980 damn does it run games blazingly fast.

:D

I haven't been on these forums long but already I've noticed 3 people in particular that meet all the criteria of being a "fanboy".

They at every opportunity attempt to post negative things about consoles they don't own and have apparently no interest in. Their constant posts annoy me, and I wish there was a way of ignoring their posts (is there an ignore function?)

What I find odd, is that people take the time to read and write about things they have no interest in. If I don't have any interest in something I certainly won't waste my time reading or writing on forums about it.

The strangest thing to me though is how people seem to show affection for brands, and material things, and appear to get some satisfaction when anything other than their favourite brand sufferes from negativity.

If anyone attempts to say anything negative about their choice of brand, they defend it in a similar way you'd expect if someone said something about your mum.

I literally couldn't care less who makes something, if tomorrow a random company came out with a console that had great games I wanted to play I'd buy it.

And very useful it is too!

People who have no satisfaction in life other then their material possessions can be a bit like that...

I just like playing video games, regardless of the platform they are on. I currently have a PS4 and find the graphics etc more than adequate.

I used to be more of a hardcore PC gamer, but I realised I am an upgrade'aholic - seriously, if something can be upgraded I will upgrade it. Even my latest phone is a Nexus 5 purely because you cannot upgrade the battery and there is no MicroSD slot (I changed the battery twice and upgraded the MicroSD card three times on my last phone).

The last gaming rig I built cost me over two grand (all money spent OcUK by the way) and I spent a lot more time overclocking, tweaking, memory stress testing and thinking about the next upgrade than I did actually playing games on it.

So once I realised my addiction I sold my lovely gaming rig and spent £1400 on a gaming laptop instead as it wasn't so upgradable. Within two weeks of owning the new laptop I had doubled the amount of RAM and upgraded to a faster HDD - I just can't help myself!

It didn't stop when I switched to console gaming either - damn you Sony for making the HDD's upgradable on the PS3...!!!

I did however used to spend a lot of time in the console sections in these very forums arguing the merit sof the PS3 over the 360... I put this down to being in an unhappy marraige and having a failing business (I was probably too busy spending the money from said business on here!).

Luckily, with the help of the new love of my life, I have kicked the addiction - almost... Damn Elite Dangerous looks so good, it just makes me want to build a serious gaming rig again to play it on - I do hope it comes to the PS4 at some point.

Posting this has made me wonder if anyone else on here are upgrade'aholics - maybe I should start a fresh post?
