PC and Console fan boys, Whats the deal ?

This is more of a problem with people or society rather than gaming. It's the same as Football. You either support team Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft or PC. Who doesn't like/support what you like is the enemy. That's about as simple as it is really. :p

It's a result of buyer's remorse. The buyer doesn't want to feel stupid because he chose an inferior platform, so he'll defend it (and the company that made it) to the hilt.

I don't understand this, and I never will understand it. The 'tribe mentality' is completely alien to me, and I simply do not see why people can't respect alternatives to their own choice.

With regard to consoles, I bought a Playstation 1 and Playstation 2, but I wished I had a Dreamcast, I wished I had an Xbox, and so on. When I bought my Playstation 3, I did so because I had looked deeply into it, and found that the hardware was technically superior, but I later decided that I would have preferred an Xbox 360 because of the more social nature of the console, and so I bought one.

All the while, I was very aware that PC's were the most powerful and graphically beautiful, technical devices which you could use to play games on, but I didn't adopt the PC platform because it didn't suit me at the time.

I now play primarily on PC, but still see the appeal of consoles.

People who have the 'tribal trait' and state their opinions as fact without doing the slightest bit of research into the subject they are spouting about , really do annoy me very very much indeed, and I do question their intelligence.

You see it all over the place, the worst subject I have seen this kind of behaviour in has got to be the automotive scene. L4 turbo chaps will fight tooth and nail with V8 chaps... I fail to see why they can't just see what the other party sees in the engines they love, and respect the fact that they have different tastes...

There will always be die hard fans of a flavour, side, solution... whatever.

It is tiresome, but people like to justify their opinions by seeing how much reaction/opposition they get. It's quite standard behaviour for a lot of people (perhaps owing to insecurities about their own opinions? or just basic neanderthal triabalism), however I agree it is boresome.

You'll never please everyone, so I tend to say to people, "if it works for you, and you're happy that's great, but it doesn't apply to everyone/me/...". Each to their own and all that jazz.

Life's too short to have constant tit-for-tat arguments over trivialities. Evangelism in general is quite draining in my opinion.

I just feel like once console gamers try 1080p at 60fps for a few hours they'll never be able to go back. It really is that much better. Explaining that to them though send them into a fury and they think you're being elitist but yet as a new console generation is released the developers are trying to up the resolution and up the fps for console players, I wander why.

In fairness though I haven't debated it enough with any console players to understand it though, I just think live and let live, if it's what they enjoy, it's what they enjoy I also cringe when I heard people in my old programming class try to tell everyone how awful console gaming was and how amazing PC Master race was yet they'd only played about 7 hours on their entire steam account on Far Cry. You'll tend to find it's the ones who don't actually play the games fully that are the most vocal.

Yeah I think I am a little more biased towards PC because in all honesty all the really immature behaviour I've seen is from the "Console Pro L33T" :p

And PC gamers are usually old men playing Batman who just knows how to build a computer but hardly plays any games and even less is good at any. And toxic young adults playing League of legends and CSGO, especially in the higher skilled matches where people are so highly strung that doing a mistake will get you yelled at.

The PC gaming community really isnt that much better, we just got less kids and more young adults. Which are capable of more ****storming and flaming than kids.

Get off your high horse.

What confusing about it, the guy said using the x-box pad for windows which is great for racing and 3rd person games.

I have both a decent gaming PC and a ps4 the latter which has failed to shine really with me so far with lots of below average games:(
It's just like the pied piper of hamelin for each one.

Seems like a case of little man syndrome. :p

Could be the individual projecting their own insecurities about their console through denial and aggression, particularly as it appears to be coming to light that next gen consoles are not the all singing all dancing machines the consumer has been led to believe. It could just be flat out jealousy that they cannot afford a gaming PC and resent people who can (I think this point is perhaps more relevant than many others).

Whatever the reason, it generally is not an acceptable way to behave. The only caveat to that is if the individual in question has some kind of mental disorder.

The truth is PC gaming has it's place, so does console gaming. Console users who think their console is in any way a technical match for a gaming PC are sadly deluded, though.

However, where a console will trump a PC every time is accessibility and also sociability. PC gaming is by and large a solitary and quite anti-social endeavour (in terms of people directly around the gamer in real life). Console gaming tends to be less so and is much better suited to having a few beers with friends and playing Halo together :)

As a previous poster said, I think you need to partake in both forms of gaming to have a rounded view on gaming as a whole.

Once a person has experience of both they will conclude that PC's are better at games though :p
