Adventure games suck. Sorry, but it’s true. This isn’t a lunk-headed action fan telling you this, nor a snotty RPG fan who wants to solve every problem with a sword. No. This is coming to you from a guy who considers beating every Sierra and LucasArts game ever made to be an amateur claim. If it exists, I’ve likely played it, or at least know of it. Broken Sword? Zork? The Last Express? Kingdom O’Magic? Les Manley? I’ve finished great adventures and rubbish adventures, and make no mistake, adventures are my favourite genre of all time. They’re what got me into gaming, the genre I’m most nostalgic about, and one still bursting with incredible untapped potential even today. Even so, today, they suck.

PC Gamer sucks more than adv games. Pff that person doesnt know a good adv game if it hit him in his face.

He says

"two examples being Simon the Sorcerer 3D, which simply stank, and the profoundly underwhelming Gabriel Knight 3"

I will say BALLS to his comment. While Simon 3d wasnt 2d and the gfx were poor i feel that simon made the gfx poor 3d to say a big FU to 3d gaming which is to say that you dont need fancy 3d to make a good game. Well its what i reckon thats the reason :p The puzzles in the game were good, the characters were fun the story was light hearted and enjoyable and the puzzle at the end to win was one of the cleverest things i have seen where you physically have to open ur cd drive and it opens the thing in the game which i thought was damn clever.

Next is GK3, while i have the others, I had first played the 3rd game and im gona say it was a brilliant game. The locations, puzzles and voices were great and even tho it was 3d i think it pulled it off ok for a adventure game. I completed it and found it very enjoyable and fun. Although i have to admit the amount of templer games out there for adv games are getting out of hand as their are LOADS of em.

Aye, back in the day i used to get a few PC Gamer mags but then i heard a rumor PC Zone gave a proper review and i bought a copy and i agree completely that they did better reviews and didnt favour genres as much as pc gamer did. Although i didnt buy many as by the time i got to mags for the pc i started on the net around 1999 and found the net better to get info and so stopped buying mags in about 2000. Except the odd cheap one to read while commuting.
